What is Gait Analysis?
Our gait analysis service, run by Kim Waters and the physiotherapy and podiatry team, uses the state of the art Vicon Motion Capture System to analyse the internal biomechanics during walking and running of patients and athletes with a range of problems. This enables us to manage and injuries as well allowing us to assess and enhance performance.
Vicon Motion Sytsem
The system in use incorporates four wall mounted cameras capturing three-dimensional movement data which provides a 3D image of the subject. The data is analyzed to provide quantitative information on joint movements in the three planes of motion. This gives us a unique insight into the abnormailities occuring during walking or running.
Who benefits?
This system can be used to complement physiotherapy and podiatry in rehabilitation and diagnosis, or in isolation to produce individualized gait analysis reports for the recommendation of footwear. We work with local running shops who help provide the appropriate footwear, Just Run and Up & Running both based near to the clinic.
