As an employer with dedicated DSE users’ you will be aware of the problems associated with DSE work and you may already know that musculoskeletal disorders like back pain, neck pain and upper limb disorders affect more than 1 million users and cost the UK employer over £5bn per annum.
In 1992 The Health & Safety (DSE) Regulations were designed to reduce the cost of work related accidents and ill health. These regulations stipulated that employers had to identify DSE users and assess their workstations and comply with minimum requirements to reduce the risk of ill health to the user.
DSE users do commonly present with muscular aches, pains and strains and the contributory factors can be both work related factors or personal factors. Whatever the factors this can result in time off work which is a direct cost to you the employer and getting the user back to work can also be an expensive process.
