Therapeutics is now running a Pregnancy Pilates class on Saturday mornings at 11 o’clock. It is a small class of approximately 6 which ensures both space and comfort for exercising and also that each participant is monitored carefully for maximum benefit.

Pilates is an effective form of exercise which pays attention to posture throughout and targets the deep postural muscles. This technique can be adapted to suit the changing physical demands of pregnancy and is an excellent preparation for the mum-to-be for labour and the post-natal period.

The class is suitable from week 16 of pregnancy. Each client is required to obtain medical consent to exercise while pregnant (there is a medical form to complete) and needs to have a 1:1 induction session with me prior to joining the class. The latter is so I can teach the basic principles of the exercises and find out a little more about each client.
